Dr. Joseph Michaels (@drjosephmichaels) is a board certified plastic surgeon serving the Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia areas. Dr. Michaels provides his patients with a full spectrum of both cosmetic and reconstructive surgical options. He is highly skilled in procedures for facial rejuvenation, breast and body contouring, and post-weight loss surgery. He also offers many minimally invasive and non-surgical treatments for these areas.
Dr. Michaels is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at Johns Hopkins Medicine. He also teaches residents from the Georgetown University Plastic Surgery Integrated Residency Program. Dr. Michaels currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Sibley Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Michaels completed a total of ten years of training following medical school. He completed his prerequisite general surgery training and a plastic surgery research fellowship at New York University Medical Center. He completed his plastic surgery training at the world-renowned Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at New York University where he trained under many of the leaders in his specialty. Afterwards, Dr. Michaels was accepted into one of the few fellowships dedicated to post-weight loss body contouring. Dr. Michaels’ training allows him to perform the most current techniques under the safest possible conditions.
